One of the fab things about writing for children is the chance to research and write about a fantastic range of subjects.
I’ve written more than 60 books on all sorts of things. Some were my own ideas (like the LifeCycles series that combines food chains and life science) and others came through publishers who know I’m an excellent researcher and writer.
I also write fiction, and working with a class full of kids to make up a story is still one of my favourite things. Sometimes the two genres blend together in narrative non-fiction books, which have long been a passion for me.
Writer, teacher and author visits
I worked as a journalist before I became a primary school teacher. I still teach part of every week, plus regularly go into schools on author visits. Right now I’m taking bookings for the week of World Book Day 2018: Thursday 1 March.
It’s been an interesting journey so far. If you are a reader, school or publisher, you could be in it next!
